DSPE-PEG-Cy3, MW 5,000 is an amphiphilic polyPEG which can self-assemble in aqueous solution to form micelles or lipid bilayer used in liposome as drug carrier. The lipid tails can be used to encapsulate hydrophobic drugs while the hydrophilic head can be used to encapsulate hydrophilic drugs or mRNA/DNA. The Cy3 is an orange fluorophore commonly used in applications such as immunolabeling, nucleic acid labeling, fluorescence microscopy, and flow cytometry. The dye has an absorption wavelength that peaks around 548-552 nm, and an emission maximum around 562-570 nm.
